Life In Acadiana

Back reads–For the Cajuns, the great adventure began in 1755 when the French-speaking Acadians were force from their homeland in Nova Scotia by the British. Ten years later, many of those exiles journeyed to the Louisiana territory to find a new home along the fertile bayous and prairies of south Louisiana. There they joined another group of settlers called Creoles, the descendents of African, West Indian and European pioneers. Their story, the story of the Cajuns and Creoles is being recreated today at a special place called Vermilionville.
