New Orleans Jackson Square

New Orleans Jackson Square vertical pack of 50. Back reads Jackson Square, the old Place d’Armes (a military parade ground), was established in 1721. The statue of Andrew Jackson was erected in 1856 and the square renamed. Artists, street performers, and musicians surround the square where the streets have become pedestrian malls. St. Louis Cathedral, built in 1794 to replace an earlier church that burned, was constructed in the Spanish style but subsequently was remodeled in 1851 to its present appearance. It is actually a basilica and the oldest active cathedral in the country, features many original furnishings and frescoes.
